Tree of Life

Updated: Apr 7, 2021

"Their branches reach high into the heavens. Their roots dig deep into the Earth. Yet all are woven together, signifying the connection between all things in the Heaven and the Earth" -Tree of Life

When our lives bring us unexpected changes or challenges we are often faced with the choice to bend or to break. I am so happy that through the seasons of change I have people who keep me grounded. One of those people happened to be Morgan, the girl could make you laugh uncontrollably and then without realizing it remind you to be humble. She is one of the great things that's allowed so many to be woven together. When we come together to share our memories either happy or sad she is allowing those connections to deepen and continue to grow, allowing us to lend a hand to those who may need it. We are all blessed to have her in our lives.

Many of you know how much Morgan loved TikTok; while watching the other day, a video came up about a lady whose husband passed away unexpectedly. She was faced with many different choices directly following, but the main message of her video was to talk to your family about your final wishes. We encourage you to include the topic of being an organ or tissue donor in this conversation. Mandy, Trevor and Trey decided that Morgan would have wanted to help anyone she could, so they made the decision to allow Morgan to do one final act of service, she became a tissue and cartilage donor. We will never know the reach of her final gift but we do know that she has left an impact on many more people because of this choice.

Children's Hospital is creating a Tree of Life to honor the donors who gave the gift of organ, cartilage and tissue donation. I can't help but to think that when trees bloom it is usually after the storm and they continue to stand strong, lending their shade to someone in need, staying grounded and steadfast. Much like this organization, developed out of the strong and sometimes unbearable storm of loss, we stand together strong. Supporting those who need a little help, in addition to providing scholarships, all while remaining true to our mission.

If you have questions or want to know more about organ and tissue donation visit https://www.midamericatransplant.org/why-give-life or feel free to reach out to us and we would love to talk about what we learned throughout our process.
