Cookin' with Charlie

Morgan had many nicknames; one of those names just happens to be Charlie. When she was small, and I would ask her what she wanted for dinner the typical answer I would get would be "rab-e-o-lee" (it was almost always ravioli or mac n cheese). As anyone over the age of 5 the rest of us would veto that answer and I would tell her "Sorry Charlie" and she would pipe back with "I not Cha-dee", so the name kind of stuck. Let me tell you that Charlie girl would sit on the counter or pull up a chair and help me cook whatever it was we came up with. Usually, she would mix it, or I would give her measuring cups and spoons to keep her busy as I cooked. In fact, I remember cleaning out the toy box at Granny's and would find measuring cups and wooden spoons amongst brothers' baseballs and toy cars. To say she was interested in cooking was an understatement.

A few summers ago, she was able to take a cooking class in summer school and would have Granny buy all the ingredients so she could recreate her masterpieces for us to try later. If anyone has had the TWIX dip, you can thank that summer school class. Well sis got her love for cooking from her Grandma Donna, Granny, Grandma Marsha, and Great Aunt Cindy. These ladies can whip something up to satisfy just about anyone, from porcupines to face cakes; some of the best foods come out of these ladies' kitchens, probably because they put an extra dash of love into every dish.

One of those special ladies recently held a Pampered Chef Fundraiser and was able to raise $300 for the foundation. Thank you, Aunt Cindy and all who participated in the fundraiser. Who knows those cooking supplies just make some ravioli or mac-n-cheese.
